Olena Fomenko left Ukraine when the war began — and found a new home, and a new purpose, painting the symbols, stories and landscapes of her homeland for the country that welcomed her.
She wanted to show the world that the Ukrainian people are deeply creative, hardworking, and passionate.

Olena Fomenko is an emerging artist currently living in the UK with her children — triplets and another daughter. Due to the outbreak of war in Ukraine, she was forced to leave her home, moving first to Spain and later to the UK.
Two wonderful families from the town of Fleet welcomed them into their homes. Over the years, these incredible people have provided help and support, and together they have become one big family. The triplets attended school for two years and are now continuing their education at various universities across the UK, thanks to the people who stood by them, helping with exam preparation and other matters, while surrounding them with love and support.
This experience inspired a desire to introduce others to Ukraine — its culture, symbols, and landmarks — and to create handmade gifts. She wanted to show the world that the Ukrainian people are deeply creative, hardworking, and passionate.
A belief in Ukraine's victory and resilience, combined with gratitude toward the world — and especially the UK, which has stood by Ukrainians throughout this time — serves as the inspiration for her creative work.
